Full Day Koh Ker Group & Perng Kamnou & Beng Mealea

Full Day Preah Vihear & Koh Ker & Beng Mealea

Tour will be required to start too early at 5:00am as you can pack breakfast along with you or you can eat breakfast at any good restaurant along the way & lunch the same also as we eat along the way.

Koh Ker Group located in the province of Preah Vihear, it was briefly the capital of the Khmer empire between 928 and 944 under king Jayavarman IV and his son Hasavaraman II. After the Khmer empire had been established in the Angkor area (Roluos), Jayavarman IV moved the capital in 928 almost 100km northeast to Koh Ker. Here a vast number of temples were built under his reign, until his successor returned to the Angkor area about twenty years later.

The Koh Ker site is dominated by Prasat Thom, a 30 meter tall temple mountain raising high above the plain and the surrounding forest. Great views await the visitor at the end of an adventurous climb. Garuda, carved into the stone blocks, still guard the very top, although they are partially covered now.

Across the site of Koh Ker there are many prasat or tower sanctuaries. A couple still feature an enormous linga on a yoni that provides space for several people. The outlet for the water that was sanctified by running it over the Linga can be seen in the outside wall of one of them. In other cases, three prasat stand next to each other, dedicated to Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu. Most of them are surrounded by libraries and enclosures, many also had moats. At that time, the roofs were still made of wood. Today, only the holes for the beams remain in the stone structures.

Perng Kamnou : On the hillside or on the foot of Mount Kulen in the east of Svay Leu district of Siem Reap, large, scattered natural stone blocks are designed with sculptures. The beautiful Khmer ancestor of the 11th century was the era of Havarmavarman III.

The first stone on the western side of the Hindu temple in Hinduism is the Vishnu statue on the Dragon, whose god is on the pink. Growing out of Vishnu’s.

The second panel opposite the carved statue carved 8 hand mirrors, along with 3 vertical penises with an ambient frame.

Tabernacle 3 is located at the east of the Tabernacle, with many statues as well as inscriptions and animals. Approximately 40 meters from the drawing, the 4th stone is a goddess of Vishnu, standing on the northern edge of a pillar, and the other one is in the second pillar And third, there is a pair of fish.

Beng Mealea Temple (its name means “lotus pond“) located at the foot of Kulen Mountain. It was built as Hinduist temple, but there are some carvings depicting Buddhist motifs. Its primary material is sandstone and it is largely unrestored, with trees and thick brush thriving amidst its towers and courtyards and many of its stones lying in great heaps. For years it was difficult to reach, but a road recently built to the temple complex of Koh Ker passes Beng Mealea and more visitors are coming to the site.

Built in the 12th Century, many scholars believe it was the model for Angkor Wat. It is just as wonderful of a temple but it is still largely lost in the jungle.

Full Day Prah Khan Kampong Svay & Spean Praptos

Full day : Tour will be required to start too early at 5:00am as you can pack breakfast along with you or you can eat breakfast at any good restaurant along the way & lunch the same also as we eat along the way.

Prah Khan Kampong Svay or Bakan Svay Rolay, there are few historical data about Preah Khan Kompong Svay. French scholars argued it had been founded in XI century, probably by Suryavarman I. It was a royal residence during the kingdom of Suryavarman II and even Jayavarman VII lived here, before recapturing the capital city of Yasodharapura from invading Chams in 1181, and improved the complex.

It’s about 170km from Siem Reap city and driving is very scenic, winding through farms and poor hamlets of Khmer, many of whom have never travelled outside of their small communities or to a city.

Spean Praptos is also known as Kampong Kdei Bridge on the National Road 6 from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, used to be the longest corbeled stone-arch bridge in the world, with more than twenty narrow arches spanning 285 ft (87m). The bridge was built in the 12th century during the reign of King Jayavarman VII. It is one of the few Khmer empire era bridges to have survived to the modern day.

Full Day Banteay Chhmar + Banteay Top Temple & Ang Trapaeng Thmor

Adventure Package

Full Day Banteay Chhmar + Banteay Top Temple & Ang Trapaeng Thmor

Tour will be required to start too early at 5:00am as you can pack breakfast along with you or you can eat breakfast at any good restaurant along the way & lunch the same also as we eat along the way.

Banteay Chhmar Temples is located in Banteay Meanchey Province and about 20 km east of the Thai border and was constructed during the reign of Jayavarman VII in the late 12th or early 13th century. One of the temple’s shrines once held an image of Srindrakumara rajaputra (the crown prince), probably a son of Jayavarman VII. The long Old Khmer inscription found at the site (K.227), and now on display in the National Museum, Phnom Penh, relates how this prince or a king (samtac) was protected on two different occasions by four royal servants, all of whom lost their lives in his defense. The inscription lists the names of these officials and informs us that their respective images were once placed in the four corners of the shrine.

Banteay Top it’s about 5km south of Banteay Chmar and this temple has five large sanctuaries that look incredibly fragile despite their size. The temple doesn’t look large, but satellite images show it at the centre of an area 800 metres long and 500 metres wide. It’s probably not such a good idea to go clambering within the temple confines — it’s all very precarious — but you can still get some lovely shots from the sidelines.

Ang Trapaeng Thmor is a vast ‘baray’ or man-made reservoir, originally built by slave labour. Aside from being a staging ground for more than 300 Sarus Crane in the dry (non-breeding) season, more than 200 species of other birds occur here, of which 18 have been classified as globally or near globally threatened. This is also one of the handful of sites in Cambodia where the endangered Eld’s Deer can be seen.

The best time to see the Sarus Crane is from January to May though an abundance of bird species makes it a worthwhile birding site all year – it’s not uncommon to see 80+ species in one day. It is one of our favorite spots for birdwatching and reviously we have found scarce birds such as Black-necked Stork, Greater Spotted Eagle and, during March and April, Oriental Plover.

ATT is a day trip from Siem Reap, though basic accommodation can be arranged, giving birdwatchers the chance of dawn sightings and offering the opportunity of visiting the massive Angkorian temple complex of Banteay Chma.

During the rainy season when we have few visitors SVC guides are training the local villagers in bird identification skills to maximise the opportunities for spotting the target species when SVC clients do visit, the fees for local guiding provide an incentive for the local community to look after their local environment and its fauna.

A Conservation Contribution is Included in the cost of all SVC trips, which supports projects that benefit the communities in the conservation areas. At ATT the CC has been used to fund a rice bank, which lends rice to families and repair roads.
